IMAGINATION STATION

Week-long Art and Dance Camps for 3-6 year olds.

June 12 – August 4, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am-12:00 noon

$195/week ($97.50 deposit for each week)*

“Lunch Bunch” option, 12:00 noon-12:45 pm, $25/week

Killian Manning leads a staff of Ballet School teachers and counselors in introducing campers to a variety of arts activities including dance, storytelling, music, and arts and crafts. Campers will also explore creative rhythm tap with Robin Vail. Time is reserved each morning for outside play and for rest time with juice and crackers. Different themes are explored each week, providing fresh material for returning campers. Maximum enrollment for each week is 20. Student/teacher ratio is 7 to 1 maximum.

 

DANCE EXPRESS!

A dance camp for the novice to beginner. Ages 7-11.

June 12 – 16, 9:00am – 12 noon

$210 ($105.00 deposit)*

Directed by Jennifer Potts & Robin Vail, students will explore rhythm tap, contemporary jazz, ballet and modern.  Designed specifically for the novice or beginner, dancers will receive a daily technique class in one genre, a second class in another genre, in addition to learning about other related topics such as dance history, terminology, choreography and stage make-up. Dancers should wear a leotard, jazz pants or footless tights and bring shoes for each genre if available. The studio will try to provide tap shoes.  Students will participate in a short informal performance on the last day for family and friends. Dancers should bring a light snack.

 

IT’S SHOWTIME!

A Musical Theater Camp for Ages 7-11

June 19 – June 30, 9:00 am-1:00 pm

$520 ($260 deposit)*

Director Gene Medler will guide the young performers in creating an original musical. Campers will dance, sing and act each day. On the final Friday, the resulting musical will be presented in the Ballet School Studio Theater. Family and friends are invited to attend the show.  For the daily rehearsals, children should wear comfortable clothing and bring a light snack each day.

Yevgeny Shalpko

Yevgeny Shlapko was born in Odessa, Ukraine but was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He began his ballet training at age eight, with Madame Olga Kostritzky at The School of American Ballet in New York City. He spent the next ten years under the direction of several teachers including Peter Boal, Sean Lavery, and Andrei Kramarevsky. During his years at SAB, he had the opportunity to work with many choreographers including Christopher Wheeldon, Benjamin Millepied, and Justin Peck. In his final years of training, he performed featured roles in Peter Martins’s Les Gentilhommes, as well as Christopher d’Amboise’s Tribute and Benjamin Millepied’s 28 Variations on a Theme by Paganini.

Dancers will receive a daily ballet technique class and additional classes in modern, jazz, character and other related topics such as ballet history, terminology, stage make-up and injury prevention. Students should bring a light snack each day.

 

Intermediate Ballet Workshop

July 24 – August 4, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

$560 ($280 deposit)*

Week 1 $280 ($140 deposit)* or Week 2 $280 ($140 deposit)*

Completion of Ballet 4 or above required.

Dancers will receive a daily ballet technique class and additional classes in pointe, modern, jazz, character, and other related topics such as ballet history, terminology, stage make-up and injury prevention. Students should bring a light snack each day.

 

Fall Ballet Warm-Up

August 14-18, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

$145 ($72.50 deposit)*

Completion of Ballet 5 or above required.

 

 

CONTEMPORARY JAZZ & HIP-HOP INTENSIVES

Contemporary Jazz, Broadway & Hip-Hop Intensive

July 17-21 9:30 am-12:30 pm

$210 ($105 deposit)*

Completion of 1 year of Contemporary Jazz, Dance Styles, Modern, Hip-Hop or 2 years of Ballet

Ronnie West and Laci McDonald will teach this intensive designed for the advanced beginner to intermediate Contemporary Jazz, Dance Styles, Modern, Ballet or Hip-Hop student. The intensive will explore Contemporary Jazz, Broadway Jazz and Hip-Hop as well as the history of both genres, choreography and dance videography. Dancers should wear a leotard and/or a t-shirt, jazz pants and bring shoes for each genre if available. Dancers should bring a light snack each day. On the last day, students will participate in a brief informal showing for friends and family.

 

Contemporary Jazz Leaps and Turns!

July 17-19 7:00pm – 9:00pm

$84 ($42.00 deposit)*

Open to rising Ballet 5 or completion of Intermediate Contemporary Jazz.

Kristin Taylor will teach this 3-day intensive focusing on leaps and turns! Dancers will begin each day with a warm-up followed by discussion and execution of the essential technical building blocks needed for amazing leaps and flawless turns. From there, students will dive into more advanced sequences focused on strengthening spot, balance, power, and agility.  Dancers will have the opportunity to choreograph their own short combinations of leaps and turns to share on the final day.

 

 

RHYTHM TAP INTENSIVES

Intermediate Rhythm Tap Intensive with Gene Medler

July 24 – 28, 9:00 am-1:00 pm with Gene Medler

Completion of Tap 3 or above required.

Students will explore and learn about rhythm tap, focusing on technique, skills, patterns and combinations. Students will study the history of rhythm tap through historical choreography and contributors to the art form through videography and various materials. Students should bring a light snack each day.

 

Advanced Rhythm Tap Intensive with Gene Medler

July 31– Aug. 4, 9:00 am-1:00 pm

$280 ($140 deposit)*

Completion of Tap 7 or above required.

Designed for the intermediate-advanced and advanced student, this intensive will focus on advanced technique and skills through a variety of exercises and combinations. Students will also work on improvisational and performance skills through various methods including videography and critique. Students will study the history of rhythm tap through historical choreography and contributors to the art form through videography and various materials. Students should bring a light snack each day.

 

*A deposit is required upon registration for any camp or workshop with the tuition balance payable on the first day of each session. Deposits are refundable until two weeks before the start of each camp. There are no refunds for absences. Camps or workshops that do not meet our minimum enrollment requirement may be cancelled with a full refund of all deposits.
